Stiefel Laboratories was established in 1847 and is proud to have innovated many significant dermatological firsts along the way

1847-John D. Stiefel found the J.D. Stiefel Company and, in collaboration with early dermatologists, pioneers innovations in the commercial methods of adding medicinal active ingredients to soap bars.

1880's-Stiefel Laboratories becomes the first dermatology specialty company to begin worldwide export of its products

1910- August C. Stiefel moves to New York City and opens the first Stiefel Laboratories office in the United States.

1948-The introduction of the Oilatum® family of products for localized lesions or full body treatment of dry skin, atopic dermatitis and eczema.

1960-The introduction of Polytar® Shampoo - the first combination of tars in a shampoo that provides effective treatment for all of the most prevalent scalp conditions, including psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff, and itching.
